The main beaches of northern Goa

For many residents of the metropolis, the Indian state of Goa has become synonymous with freedom from domestic routine and office slavery. On the Indian coast, both ordinary citizens, large bosses who became downshifters, and representatives of bohemia found shelter. There is something special in this place, caressed by the sun. Numerous beaches provide everyone with the opportunity to find their own personal paradise.

BEACH ARAMBOL (ARAMBOL BEACH)
Arambol Beach

It is believed that this place was opened to the general public by members of The Beatles. John Lennon and his companions cleared karma while sitting under the Banyan tree, imitating a Buddha who was seeking enlightenment. There really is a tree, but whether the famous Liverpool four was here is a big question.

Nevertheless, from the 60s, from November to March, Arambol regularly attracts hippies and other freaks who are alien to the benefits of modern civilization.

The beach is 2 km of soft sand, which is bordered by bizarre cliffs and exotic vegetation. Among the main attractions are contemplation of natural beauties, paragliding and yoga, evening is the time for psychedelic parties.

There are no chic restaurants, expensive hotels and fashion boutiques. They are replaced by budget cafes, modest hotels and open-air shopping malls. All this is concentrated on the central street of the village of the same name Arambol.

In the northern part there is a freshwater lake, and a half hour walk from it – an Indian temple.

KERI BEACH / KERI BEACH / QUERIM BEACH
Keri beach, Querim beach

Keri, or Karim – the most northern beach of Goa. Once it was known only to locals who spent their serene free time here, but nothing can be hidden from the ubiquitous tourists. Now, along with the indigenous inhabitants on the white sand, guests from other countries are sunbathing.

It should be noted that there are few of them so far, and there is plenty of space on the 5-kilometer coastline. There is no infrastructure as such, and no one seems to seek to develop it because of the low attendance of the beach due to its remoteness. There are no hotels in the immediate vicinity. Such a “wild” vacation has its own charms: you can be alone with yourself and nature, and in these places it can even amaze a snob.

The northern tip of the coast rests against a river, on the opposite bank of which stands the fort of Tiracol, built by the Portuguese colonists. Today it houses the Fort Tiracol Heritage Hotel. It has only 7 rooms, the rest of the territory is open for visitors and awaits lovers of antiquity and exotic.

The relief of the southern end of the beach defines a hill breaking the winds constantly blowing from the ocean. Air currents attract paragliders here. You can fly on your own or in tandem with an instructor.

ASHWEM BEACH
Ashvem Beach

Adjacent to Arambol, Ashvem Beach offers an infinitely long sandy strip, ideal for a secluded vacation. Simple huts for rent are stretched along the sea. The lack of amenities in the usual sense of the word is a kind of chip for spoiled Europeans. Restaurants and cafes offering delicious seafood dishes are located at a distance.

The beach is surrounded by palm trees and a shallow rivulet through which countless bridges are thrown.

Kitesurfing enthusiasts have chosen Ashvem, since there is enough space for maneuvers.

MANDREM BEACH
Mandrem Beach

Mandrem lies between the beaches of Ashvem and Arambol. Compared with the latter, this section of the coastline is cleaner and calmer, therefore families with children like to relax here. The wide coastline is covered with golden sand.

A variety of shaki, cafes and restaurants offer mouth-watering dishes to satisfy your hunger. There are no iconic attractions in the area. People come here to enjoy nature and views.
