Beaches of St. Paul’s Bay
St. Paul’s Bay, reminiscent of a heart from a certain angle, is one of the favorite vacation spots for tourists and locals alike. It is located 57 km from the city of Rhodes, within walking distance from the resort of Lindos.
According to legend, it was here that the apostle Paul appeared, who began to preach Christianity and talk about Jesus Christ. Such a momentous event was marked by the construction of a snow-white chapel, which stands out against the piercing blue sky. It is open to the public and is popular with people who wish to marry. It is believed that the union concluded in such a place will certainly be happy. A stunning view of the Aegean Sea opens from the site near the chapel, which is especially appreciated by photographers who take memorable photos of the newlyweds.
Chapel in St. Paul’s Bay
A small chamber bay is protected by cliffs on all sides, which makes the water in it warmer than other beaches, and large waves are very rare here. The landscape is added by the ruins of the ancient Acropolis, located at the exit of the bay. They can be viewed both independently and as part of the tour.
Descent into the sea is gentle and comfortable, stones can deliver minor inconveniences. Transparent water allows you to see the motley representatives of the ichthyofauna in all details.
SAINT PAUL BEACH BEACHES
Small beach of St. Paul’s Bay
There are 2 beaches in the bay. Big owes his appearance to man. Workers cleared the rocky space and filled it with gritty sand. A small beach lies at the northern end of the bay and is a mixture of sand and fine gravel.
These stretches of coastline, lined with even rows of sun loungers and umbrellas, are not much different from each other. Renting 2 sun loungers and 1 umbrella for the whole day will cost about 10 €. If you come with your towel, no one will drive you out, but it’s not accepted here. You can hardly find a place to comfortably accommodate and not disturb the personal space of vacationers.
The main beach of St. Paul’s Bay
Due to its beauty, the bay is very popular, so all the sunbeds are already occupied in the morning. There are a lot of boats in the water area that bring tourists from nearby hotels to enjoy this magical place or swim in the crystal waters after a long excursion.
There is all the necessary infrastructure: toilets, showers, changing rooms. The tavern, built at the very edge of the water, serves traditional Greek cuisine. If you want a gastronomic variety, go up the path. In the vicinity of the bay there are many cafes and restaurants.
The main entertainment after sunbathing and contemplating a bizarre landscape is snorkeling. It is popular with vacationers of all ages. Multi-colored marine inhabitants are almost not afraid of bathers and allow you to see yourself in all its glory. More experienced divers are engaged in diving. On the beaches there is no rental of scuba gear, masks and other attributes for diving, so you need to bring everything you need for diving and swimming.
